How MAGIC Changed my life!

As a small child, I did not read very much. Both my mother and brother read everything! I liked magic and I couldn't get enough of it. My mother dragged me to several libraries each week, to feed her hunger for reading. One day I found a treasure trove of magic books. I was in heaven. I read and read.

Later, I wanted the bigger tricks and illusions, but they cost too much for a young person still in 4th grade. My father let me use his tools to make my own magic props. After gaining carpentry skills, I helped my father fix up the house and remodel. Eventually took jobs remodeling other people's houses.

I met a beautiful girl at high school. She bought me my first rabbit and assisted me on stage. We got married about a year after graduation. Along the way I put myself though college doing handy-man work with electrical, plumbing and carpentry.

Now, decades later, I am retired with a loving family, my hobbies chess and magic. I feel that I owe a lot of my success to magic, because magic got me into reading and carpentry. To discover something you love, at such a young age helps develop your mind and give you a sense of purpose. I also gained a lot of confidence in myself. This is very important for children.

I don't drink, smoke, take drugs, gamble, or cheat. I found that special something that occupied my thoughts and time in a constructive way. I hope you find it too. Whether it is magic, music, singing, gardening, or whatever. Pursue your interests and enjoy life.
