How MAGIC changed my life!

As a small child, I did not read very much. Both my mother and brother are bibliophiles (they read everything!). Well, I liked magic and I couldn't get enough of it. My mother dragged me to several libraries each week, to feed her hunger for reading. I wandered around and one day I found a treasure trove of magic books. WOW! Lots of stories of magicians and how they did their magic tricks. I was in heaven. I read and read.

Later on,  I wanted the bigger tricks and illusions, but they cost too much for a young person still in 4th grade. So my father let me use his tools to make some. I got handy with carpentry. I helped my father fix up the house and remodeled several rooms. Eventually took jobs remodeling other peoples houses.

I met a beautiful girl at high school. She bought me my first rabbit, Harvey. She assisted me on stage. We got married about a year after graduation. Along the way I put myself though college doing handy-man work with electrical, plumbing and carpentry.

Now, I have a family, a career and my hobby...magic. I feel that I owe a lot of my success to magic, because magic got me reading and learning carpentry. To discover something you love, at such a young age helps develop your mind and give you a sense of purpose. I also gained a lot of confidence in myself. This is very important for children.

I don't drink, smoke, take drugs, or cheat. I found that special something that occupied my thoughts and time in a constructive way. I hope you find what I found. Whether it is magic, music, singing, gardening, or whatever. Pursue your interests and enjoy life.
